Valentine's Day Gifts: Want to Please Your Valentine?
Here's What You Need To Know
By Dr. Lovegood

A survey of KTS-II takers on the subject of Valentine's Day gift giving turned up a few surprises.

Before we get to that, though, let's take a brief look at the findings that matched our expectations. For example, we figured that there would be something of a disconnect between what men and women think the other sex wants for a Valentine's Day present -- and we were right!

One of the biggest differences? Romantic Weekend Getaways. Nearly one-fourth of women respondents (23%) hoped for such a gift -- but only 8% of men had them in the works. Another schism was with Valentine's Day Cards: 41% of women wanted to give them, but only 17% of men hoped to receive them. (According to the Greeting Card Association, 85% of valentine cards in the U.S. are purchased by women.)

Luckily, there were many ways in which both sexes seemed to be reading from the same romantic page. Forty-three percent of men were giving flowers, and 39% of women wanted them. Twenty-five percent of women planned to give massages -- let's hope it was to the 25% of men who were hoping to be massaged.

Another revelation that bodes well for the future of the species: although only 5% of men wanted flowers for themselves, 43% were giving flowers to their Valentines. And even though receiving a Valentine card was important to a mere 17% of men, twice that number -- 34% -- were smart enough to be giving Valentine's cards to the 34% of women who hoped to receive them.
